FIELD NOTES: Gray Tree Frog

Yesterday my oldest Studio Assistant and I visited Watkins Nature Center. She asked seventeen thousand questions and I did my best to keep up.

I came home and drew this gray tree frog because I’m trying really hard to do something with my hands other than doom-scroll.

My youngest Studio Assistant supervised from my lap and despite having her own sketchbook, was hell bent on adding to mine, hence needing to draw at an extreme distance.

Side note—the extremely talented Martina Sestakova has her work at the Watkins Nature Center now through November 8th! The reception is Saturday, October 3, 2026 (1-3pm)
